San Piero in Bagno-Bagno di Romagna
San Piero in Bagno is the commercial heart and seat of
the Municipality of Bagno di Romagna and owes its characteristics to
its position as a place of transit for travelling over the Apennine
ridge. Its “commercial” activities date from ancient times
and in fact it was already noted by Cardinal Angelico in his “report”
of 1371. The development of the town came about after the destruction
of Corzano Castle (1527), on the overlooking rounded green summit, when
as a consequence its inhabitants descended to the valley.
The beautiful Palazzo Pesarini, where the concert
will be held, is in Piazza Salvador Allende, the attractive heart of
San Piero in Bagno. Around the Piazza are precious buildings of Tuscan
inspiration dating from 17th and 18th centuries. This beautiful square
once housed a big stone fountain.
