Meldola

Meldola officially entered history in 1035 with the act that sealed the passing of the Rocca to the Archbishops of Ravenna. A part of the present historic centre stands on the remains of a villa dating from 5th and 6th centuries, defined as ‘teodoric’ in consideration of the fact that Teodorico in 502, when he restored the acquaduct of Traiano, laid his hands on the villa extending it in some parts. Traces of its rich history are left in the architecture and monuments. Among other things of particular interest are the mosaics of Casa Picchi which have come to light since 1937 on the site where, presumably, the great teodoric building exsisted.
With ERF we will find ourselves in the beautiful Arena Esperia surrounded by an ancient loggia and situated at the foot of the Rocca and dating from prior to the year 1,000.
