Medicina
Situated to the east of the Bolognese territory near the
borders between Romagna and the Ferrarese territory, it takes its name
from the Latin noun ‘medicina’ meaning ‘place where
one is treated and cured’. The pre-Roman origin of the settlements
in the territory is confirmed by archaeological remains, whereas the
central position of Medicina in an agro-Roman centirone is confirmed
both by the centurial mail still visible (the thistle and the axe meet
in the middle of the historic centre near the civic Tower), as well
as the various archaeological remains that have been gathered.
The Municipal Cloisters will host the ERF concert.
This building dates from 16th century as the Convento dei Padri Carmelitani.
Of the original remaining structure the door archway inside the cloister,
the stairway, the upstairs corridors and the refectory, transformed
into the Sala del Consiglio (Meeting room), are preserved.
