Borgo Tossignano
Built on the top of a hill, Tossignano dominates the valley
and due to this strategic position in the thirteenth century an impressive
fortress was built, of which considerable remains can be seen today.
At the foot of the hill there is Borgo Tossignano built on the rocky
ridge known as ‘Vena del gesso’, with its characteristic
shine that gives it name of ‘moonstone’.
The concerts will be held in the splendid ruins
of the Rocca di Tossignano, which gives a fine view over the Santerno
valley, in the Church of San Girolamo with its neoclassical façade
in the centre of Tossignano, and in the Romanesque Church of Riviera,
a few kilometres before Borgo Tossignano. The delightful building has
perfect acoustics and used to house a fine Madonna con Bambino by Bellini.
