Forlì

Forlì, the ‘throbbing heart’ of the festival, is an ancient city and at the same time modern in its constant ferment and renewal, where ERF is now part of its cultural heritage.

In Forlì, the inauguration will take place in the splendid thirteenth-century Abbey of San Mercuriale, which contains some of the most important works of the area, such as the funeral monument of Barbara Manfredi. One then moves to the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine, entirely rebuilt in the eighteenth century along fifteenth-century lines and still offered to present-day visitors with its magnificent doorway in Istrian stone of Marino by Marco Cedrini.

The Rocca di Caterina Sforza (or Ravaldino) will be opened. This is a 13th century monument where Cesare Borgia ousted Caterina Sforza , in 1500, and where on the south side the great coat of arms of the Borgias can be seen and was placed there on the point in which the aggressors opened fire in 1500.

We will also be able to enjoy music and art in the Neoclassical Cathedral, where there are works of great interest including the ancient woodcut of the Madonna del Fuoco, and in the courtyard with its loggias of Palazzo Orsi Mangelli, housing the university.
